أَعْلَنَ فَرِيقٌ دَوْلِيٌّ مِنْ عُلَمَاءِ الْفَلَكِ، فِي ٢٧ يُولْيُو ٢٠٢٦، دَلِيلًا قَوِيًّا عَلَى وُجُودِ ثُقْبٍ أَسْوَدَ ضَخْمٍ بَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَرْكَزِ مَجَرَّتِهِ. وَيَصِفُ الْبَاحِثُونَ هٰذَا الثُّقْبَ بِأَنَّهُ «تَائِهٌ» بِسَبَبِ مَوْقِعِهِ غَيْرِ الْعَادِيِّ.

Strong Evidence of a Wandering Black Hole at a Galaxy’s Edge

On July 27, 2026, an international team of astronomers announced strong evidence of a massive black hole far from the center of its galaxy. The researchers describe the black hole as “wandering” because of its unusual location.

The black hole is more than 30,000 light-years from the galaxy’s center. This galaxy is about 750 million light-years from Earth. Massive black holes are usually located at the centers of galaxies.

The first evidence of it appeared in November 2025, when an astronomical survey recorded an unusual flash. Observations from several telescopes, including the Swift space observatory, showed that the black hole’s gravity tore apart a star that passed close to it.

The black hole’s mass is estimated at around one million times the Sun’s mass. It may have been pushed away after several galaxies merged, or it may remain at the center of a small galaxy that lost most of its stars. This method will help scientists search for similar black holes.
