New Report Highlights Jeddah’s House of Islamic Arts

On July 24, the Saudi Press Agency published a report on the House of Islamic Arts in Jeddah. The report says that the museum contains more than 1,000 rare art objects representing 15 centuries of Islamic art history.

The exhibits come from many regions of the Islamic world, from China and India to the Maghreb and Andalusia. They include Qur’anic manuscripts, Arabic calligraphy, coins, textiles, ceramics, and architectural elements. The coins show different periods in the history of Islamic states and the development of monetary systems. One notable object is a piece of cloth about 2.6 meters long, on which one third of the Qur’an was written in fine microscopic script.

Interactive displays help visitors understand the development of Arabic calligraphy and decoration across different periods. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. Through these activities, the venue presents Islamic heritage clearly to visitors and younger generations.
