Photography Exhibition Highlights AlUla Storytellers in Paris

The exhibition “I Am a Rawi: Sharing Stories of AlUla” is continuing at UNESCO headquarters in Paris until August 31, 2026. It displays 21 photographs of AlUla’s Rawis, who are guides from the local community.

The photographs, by Nick Jackson, show the Rawis at well-known places such as Hegra, AlUla Old Town, Dadan, and Jabal Ikmah. The Rawis do not only explain the history of these places; they also speak about their memories and experiences.

UNESCO is presenting the exhibition with the Royal Commission for AlUla. It is part of a project that uses dialogue and storytelling to bring people closer to heritage. During the opening week, two Rawis led tours and story-sharing sessions with visitors.

The exhibition reminds visitors that heritage is not only old buildings and objects. It also lives in people’s memories and in what they pass on to others. Through these photographs, AlUla’s stories are reaching an international audience in Paris.
