Attack in Shabwa Kills More Than 50 Trainees

On October 19, three missiles struck a training center for police and security forces in Yemen’s southeastern Shabwa province. The local authorities said new recruits were at the center at the time of the attack. The province is in the southeast of the country.

The authorities reported that more than 53 recruits were killed and over 200 others were injured. These are preliminary figures and may change later. A Yemeni official said the Houthis launched the missiles, and a Houthi spokesperson also announced that the camp had been targeted.

Presidential Leadership Council head Rashad al-Alimi asked officials to provide medical care for the injured. The local authorities said they would provide treatment in hospitals. They also directed that help be given to the families of the recruits who were killed.
